If you suffer from a mobility problem and are unable to get to the library yourself, we can come to you. We can deliver books, including large print and audio books, directly to your home via our Readers at Home Service.
Our service is also suitable for carers.

The Readers at Home service delivers to:
- People in their own homes all over Gateshead: monthly
- Sheltered/Residential Homes: service provided on an individual basis and by "bulk loans" to a "bookcase collection" and changed regularly
- Visually impaired readers: we have a large selection of Audio Books and publish lists of titles available for people using the service
- Queen Elizabeth Hospital: A ward round twice a week with a trolley of books to patients, and a small recreational reading library which is open for staff and patients on Monday and Friday afternoons
