Gateshead Station

Gateshead East Station was built in 1885 on the curve giving access to the High Level Bridge across the Tyne and it took the place of Greenesfield as Gateshead’s main station. Here passengers could catch a train south to Sunderland, South Shields and beyond. Gateshead West Station was built in 1868 alongside on the curve from the new Team Valley line on to the High Level Bridge.
