Atlas Hotel, 244 High Street

An inn was listed under no particular name at 244 High Street for many years. However, it was Swinburne and Co. who in 1901 re-opened the establishment as the Atlas Hotel. Swinburne & Co. ran many of the inns around Gateshead High Street. These included the Central Hotel, Half Moon Inn, Dun Cow Inn, Metropole Hotel and William IV Inn amongst others.
