Stop 2: Grahamsley Street

Grahamsley Street

This is the street where Geordie Ridley was born. Along with Charles Street, Grahamsley Street was built surrounding a stone quarry, which then formed a square with other houses. Throughout the 1860’s this and other squares off the High Street were filled with cross-streets. The name is derived from a Mr Grahamsley who had a farm on the site.
