Joining the library couldn't be easier.

If you are over 16 bring along some proof of your name and address, a driving license or current bill will be fine, and we will do the rest!

You can borrow books or use the computers straight away. Your library ticket is valid in any Gateshead Library - we have 17 libraries in all.

If you want to borrow CDs, DVDs or videos we need to do an extra security check. We will send a letter out to you in the post. Bring it back in and we will upgrade your ticket immediately.

Children of any age may join the library. Babies need books too!

Your parent or guardian will need to sign for you to join the library. If they can not come along with you we will post your ticket to your home.

Children have to get their parents permission before we are able upgrade their tickets to allow them to use computers in the library.

Either come along with a parent or guardian or ask a member of staff to post out a form for them to sign.
