Song written on the death of Newcastle brewery owner, James Stawpert

James Stawpert and partner Thomas Spencer owned the Sun Brewery on Newcastle's Quayside. The brewery specialised in drinks such as Eightpenny Ale and Table Beer. Press cuttings from the Tyne Mercury (10 August, 1813) reveal that Stawpert died less than a year after taking on the brewery. Stawpert was also wrote a number of other Tyneside songs such as 'Trafalgar's Battle' and 'John Diggons'.

This song is part of the John Bell Collection.
